Janathon Days 24, 25 and 26

I think I last posted on Thursday via twitter to say I was unexpectedly away this weekend and was planning to post as and when I can thereafter.  Last week was hopeless, I spent less time in the gym than anywhere, nothing went according to plan and this weekend has been no better.  I packed on Friday morning for our weekend, I packed two sets of running kit.  Friday evening after work I could feel a sore throat coming on, Friday night I was coughing and spluttering and no exercise other than walking from the car to Costa coffee to eat en route to Somerset.

We arrived in Somerset at 10.30 Friday night having spent a good couple of hours on the M3 trying to get through the disaster between Fleet and Hook.  The whole journey took 5 hours.  The receptionist at the hotel had also given our room away.  5 hour journey, no bedroom, 15 year old boy in a swimming competition needing to get to bed early!  Friday night did not go according to plan.

Saturday, beautiful morning, early start at the pool in Milfield School, Street.  We parked at the top car park and walked down to the pool, the walk back was uphill the whole way – my exercise attempts for Janathon Day 25.  Josh, on the otherhand, got a pb at 50m free and a Regional time.  Saturday afternoon leaving the pool and the weather was awful, pouring rain, wind, the works and my cold…dire.

Sunday lazy lie in – couldn’t do anything else as the cold has now really taken hold, coughing and spluttering worse, bad night….hideous. The weather had also reached epic proportions as the rain lashed down even harder than Saturday and the wind blasted through everything.  Breakfast was good and we went to the pool for a 2pm start, parked much closer than yesterday due to the weather, it seemed everyone had the same idea.  J had a fantastic swim and achieved another Regional time for 200m free and another pb, 2.07.39 (i think!).

Janathon efforts this weeked I suspect I should be delegating as B went for a run on Friday 3.63k and J had two fabulous swims.  If I could count coughing and spluttering to Olympic proportions as my Janathon effort I would have beaten everyone.  My running kit…stayed packed.

So, I am currently hoping I don’t get another chest infection and I am doing my best not to and whilst I am absolutely gutted, I think my Janathon efforts are over for this year, I don’t want to be laid up again for another three months.  Up until last week I had been doing so well this January and I was so pleased with all my efforts!

Last week everyone.  Keep up the good work Janathoners “you’re all doing very well”……..🙂 *some of you might understand that*

Pilates morning – Day 22 Janathon

Love Pilates, was shattered after this morning though, more jump board which basically means legs feel like jelly.   Amazing how Pilates always makes me feel unbelievably good afterwards though.  I must have covered miles and miles of Pilates this morning, shame it can’t be counted in those terms and I could add it to my distances covered.🙂

Hellloooooooo – Janathon Day 20 and 21

Day 20 and Em is going back to Uni tomorrow perfect opportunity to welcome J back from Amsterdam and say bye to Em going to the Hague.  So as I explained to the Janathon Committee this morning Day 20 consisted of arriving at a property, leaving my car, walking to the house, walking round the kitchen, walking up the stairs, standing around whilst discussing the hot water tank, walking back down the stairs, saying goodbye and walking back to the car.  masses of exercise, not quite what I would normally (well this Janathon anyway) use as a days work out – however, needs must and my needs must.  Bye Em have a great term.

Day 21 and I’ve just been to the gym, worked hard, 11k this evening some floor work and the 2x 1 minute planks off the ball.  Tomorrow is going to be really interesting especially as I need to build some kilometres up  since I’ve missed a couple of days hard work so whilst I would have probably gone to the gym to do that, J has a ‘thing’ at school for his 6th form options etc….god I can’t wait, I really know how to live!

Distance so far 114.24k this is the furthest I have ever got for Janathon.  Woohoo!!

18 – day 18 janathon

Pilates today, really hard work on the legs, they felt like lead afterwards.  I used the jump board today which is really hard work, very intense on the legs.  Fantastic though I do love Pilates but no gym – back to that tomorrow or if the weather and mindset are willing a run perhaps.

Day 17 Janathon – ooooooops

I reserve the right to nominate tonight as my night off – J went to Amsterdam this morning with his art class so I was up and awake at 6am, Em is going to the Hague on Tuesday next week; so after all the flooding risks and worries today I finished work about an hour early to drive home in the light to spot those enormous puddles and get home safely, then when I got home I was met with ‘fancy going to the Hare for dinner?’ and that was it….too good an opportunity to miss……sorry guys, back on track with Pilates tomorrow, I might go to the gym too you never know!  On the plus side I did walk out of the car into the pub and back again….does that count?

I’ve got to get out more….

Hello fellow Janathoners, how are we all getting on now we’ve reached the half way stage?

Me?  I’m still going strong, actually I’m feeling really good as my fitness increases but I do find the treadmill, or as someone calls it the dreadmill, seriously boring.  I’ve got to get out this weekend and do some trail running, though if I want company, I’m going to need to road run – no-one else in the family has trail shoes.  So the choice is mud and puddles or road and puddles…….hmmmmm, decisions, decisions.

In the gym tonight, not packed, not empty, just comfortably enough space on the last treadmill for lil ol’ me.  3k on the treadmill and 7k on the bike.  10k overall.  Which takes my total so far I think to 99.57k woohooo bring it on.
